What exactly does Repossession Help do?

Quite often, I am asked the question “what exactly does Repossession Help do?”

I begin by saying that we are providing a service that offers guidance on steps that can be taken when facing home repossession or home eviction due to mortgage arrears. We have found that many people who fall into arrears become anxious and stressed from the fear of losing their home and many “bury their heads in the sand” and hope the problem will go away.

The guidance we offer covers approaches on how best to deal with these situations that can include creating a payment plan that they can manage and offer to their lender, to how best to prepare for a court hearing if their situation has gone that far. 

Most people come to us as a last resort and when they realise that home repossession or even eviction can be dealt with and does not necessarily mean the end. This raises their self esteem and provides relief to guilt that they suffer due to circumstances beyond their control that has put them in this situation in the first place.

Obviously we are not always able to help everyone and there are cases where their situation is way beyond help and usually selling their home is the only way out, which at very least, this can offer relief and a chance to start again with a clean slate.
